About us
On 26th August 2000 the late Derek Mitchell opened Threave Home Hardware on King Street Castle Douglas. He always wanted to be Mr Arkwright and funnily enough he adopted the nickname Del Boy, where his wheeling and dealing skills came into their own. Before his sudden death, he passed the family business on to his daughter Michelle Davolls who still runs the shop today. She has a brilliant team of staff behind her who take the shop to new levels.
Threave Home Hardware prides itself on the personal touch. Having years of experience, the staff have a vast knowledge of the products that they sell. They are happy to give customers tips, demonstrations, and advice, answer any questions that are asked and if they don’t know the answer, they are only happy to find out.
If there are brands within the shop, for example ‘Denby’, and we do not sell the range of products you like, then we will try to get it for you. That’s where the personal touch counts.

Within our store, we are happy to offer some much appreciated services to our customers. These include:
Delivery Service
Ask in-store about our daily delivery routes. Any purchases over £50 entitles you to Free Delivery.
Build Service
We offer to build a range of different products which include Garden Furniture, Garden Equipment, Vacuum Cleaners, Electric Fans and Heaters. We are here to take the stress of building your products.
Shop Pick Up Service
From Coals, Logs and Kindling to bags of Compost and Bark - all you need to do is drive around the back of the shop and we will do the heavy lifting.
Dulux Paint Mixing
Make sure you get the right paint for your home. You pick the room, colour, and finish, and we will mix it up with our paint machine.
Calor Gas
We can exchange your empty Calor Gas bottle for a full one. Just simply ask in store or over the phone.
Ecover
Pop into the shop with your Ecover bottles and we will happily refill them for you.
Sodastream
Bring in your empty Sodastream Cylinders and exchange them for full one or you can purchase a new one if you want a spare.

Meet the Team
We have our manager Robbi, who keeps our staff happily busy, and customers satisfied. Linda, our assistant manager, who prides herself in helping staff and customers, Christine our buyer who keeps the stock and displays on point and up to date. Then there is the shop team: Anne who loves a window display, Lesley who loves plants and mixing paint, Amanda who loves to keep the place spick and span, Damian and Douglas who love tools and DIY, building furniture and enjoy getting out and about on deliveries. And lastly our junior sales assistant Eleanor, who loves helping in the holidays and at the weekends.
